Cristiano Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid during the Champions League final

Spanish prosecutors have accused the Real Madrid footballer Cristiano Ronaldo of defrauding the authorities of millions of euros in tax.

The prosecutor's office in Madrid says it has filed a lawsuit against the Portuguese player.
He is accused of evading tax of 14.7m euros (£13m; $16m) from 2011 to 2014.

In a statement, representatives of the world's highest paid footballer said there had never been concealment, or the slightest intention to conceal.

Gigi Buffon is backing Juventus' move for Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

The Italian champions hope to bring in Szczesny as a long-term successor to their No.1 of over 15 years and are in advanced talks with Arsenal over a £14million deal.

“This could be the last year and I would like to be a protagonist, as I have always dreamed of being," Buffon told reporters. “To do that, I have to be important. I will work for this next year."

He might as well been talking about Asamoah Gyan - a perfect example of a player whose contributions are chronically undervalued.

On Sunday the 31-year-old forward became the first player to score 50 goals for the Black Stars.
