Eric Bailly and Celta Vigo's Facundo Roncaglia were both sent off in the Europa League semi-final match

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has been given a three-match ban for his red card against Celta Vigo in the Europa League.

The 23-year-old was sent off after a mass brawl in the semi-final on 11 May and missed the final against Ajax, which United won 2-0.

However, the suspension has now been extended to include two more games.

Benjamin Mendy has completed his £52m transfer from Monaco to Manchester City to become the world's most expensive defender.

The 23-year-old France left-back has signed a five-year deal with the club.

Mendy is City's fifth major signing of the summer and takes their spending to more than £200m.

ANTONIO CONTE insists Alvaro Morata was his "first choice" transfer target this summer - even though Chelsea missed out on Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea have agreed to sign Morata in a £78million deal from Real Madrid.

Robert Kubica's return from life-changing injuries will take a step up when he drives a 2017 Renault at a test in Hungary on 2 August.

The 32-year-old Pole has not raced in Formula 1 since a horrific rally crash in 2011 left him with only partial movement in his right arm.

The test, Kubica's third for Renault, is described by the team as "a new phase in assessing [his] capabilities".

The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has passed a proposal shifting the scheduling of the AFCON from January to June and July.

This follows the decision to expand the number of teams in the tournament from 16 to 24 teams.

The new format for the competition will now take effect with the 2019 edition in Cameroon.
