Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Simon Osei Mensah has made a cash donation of GHC 10,000 to Asante Kotoko following their sadden accident on Wednesday.

Hon. Osei Mensah presented the money to the playing body led by captain Amos Frimpong on Thursday morning at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Former Ghana President John Dramani Mahama has thrown his support for Kumasi Asante Kotoko following their tragic accident which occurred at Nkawkaw on Wednesday night.

He expressed his condolences to the Premier League giants for the loss of their assistant equipment officer Kofi Asare through the accident.


The Kumasi High Court, has ruled in favour of MultiChoice Ghana, in a case leveled against Champion Broadcasting Limited in 2016.

In March 2016, MultiChoice Ghana, operators of DStv and agents of SuperSport International, dragged Champion TV (the defendant) to court for infringing on its copyrights by unlawfully showing the English Premier League (EPL) without authority.

According to MultiChoice Ghana’s statement of claim, SuperSport, was granted exclusive rights by the English Premier League, through a competitive bidding process to broadcast the football matches of the EPL for the 2015/2016 football season within Sub Saharan Africa including Ghana.

Champion TV’s continuous violation of their content rights was having an extremely adverse impact on their business, as their unlawful broadcasts were widely patronised for free in Ghana and beyond and widely advertised online.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s team bus has been involved in what appears to be a fatal accident on a return journey to Kumasi after game week 22 fixture against Inter Allies.

The bus had about 35 occupants made up of players and team officials.

Details of how the Wednesday night accident occurred are sketchy, but the bus is reported to have run into a stationary truck loaded with rice, with registration number AS 7329-13.

The GFA and the entire football fraternity is devastated by the sad development.

The technical staff and playing body of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and technical staff suffered double agony as rescuers turned top rob them of their personal belongings following their fatal accident last night.

These robbers who had the helpless players and officials at their mercy took items ranging from mobile phones, Ipads, football boots and money under the pretense of rescuing them.

Players including Ahmed Adams, Saddick Adams, Baba Mahama and Eric Donkor all got their phones stolen at the scene while many others lost their monies.

The Ghanaian giants were involved in a fatal motor accident with a member of the team feared dead on their return to Kumasi on Wednesday after their league game in Accra.
