Hearts of Oak captain Thomas Abbey has returned to preseason training with the side following reports of his imminent departure from the Phobians.
Abbey, who was Hearts of Oak’s top scorer in last season’s Ghana Premier League campaign, is currently out of contract and was heavily linked with a move away from the club.
But in a stunning u-turn, the 24-year old midfielder was spotted at the team’s training grounds on Monday suggesting a possible stay at the Rainbow club.
Public Relations Officer of the club, Kwame Opare Addo, has confirmed to Citi Sports that talks are ongoing for a possible renewal of the player’s contract.
“Thomas returned to training this morning and we are still in talks with his representatives on a contract renewal,” he said.
Abbey was part of the Black Stars B team that won the 2017 WAFU tournament staged in Ghana.
