The vice chairman for Black Stars Management Committee, Wilfred Osei Palma has blamed Israel international and former coach of the Black Stars, Avraham Grant as the cause of the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for Russia 2018 FIFA World cup competition.

Speaking on Talking Sports on ATL FM, Wilfred Osei Palma said the appointment of former black stars coach, Avraham Grant was not a good idea. This he said on the bases that the Israel football manager did not meet his objective of winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2017 as well as taking certain technical decisions which he describe as bad. He said, “ Grant as the then head coach decided to add injured players to his final squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2017 at the expense of fully fit and talented players.”

The chief executive officer for Ghana base team Tema Youth, Wilfred Osei Palma revealed that Avraham Grant was on the brink of dismissal nearing the start of AFCON 2017 but the decision was reverted considering that the timing was bad. “The Black Stars team under Avraham Grant was playing with names but now they are playing as a collective team”, Mr. Palma retorted.

On the reasons that the former Chelsea manager didn’t help the Black Stars cause to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, Mr. Osei Palma told ATL Sports that Avraham Grant was so much dependent on some few players. He further drew a comparison between the former coach and the current coach of the black stars, Avraham Grant and Kwesi Appiah respectively, stating that the former has built a team that has better replacement for every department of the game.

The Black Stars Management Committee vice chairman was waded into the controversy of winning bonus for the black stars by asserting that football is about adhering to the contract you have with players and for that matter, the bonuses of the team will be paid to them accordingly.

Mr. Palma urged all fans across the country to support the Black Stars ahead of their last round of CAF world cup qualifier.
