Adubea leads Ampem Darkoa’s charge in Ghana's Women’s League

Lady strikers finally managed to exact some revenge against Elmina Sea Lions, beating them 1-0 in their Match Day 10 encounter of the National Women’s League (NWL), on a weekend that saw most of the away teams enjoying good results.

The win at the Nduom Stadium at Elmina did not only end Sea Lions’ dominance over Lady Strikers this season, but it significantly saw the Cape Coast-based Lady Strikers to surprisingly move to the top of the southern zone standings.

Lady strikers had been trailing in third place but jumped up with 17 points, after second-placed Immigrations Ladies were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Samaria Ladies.

Sea Lions now have 17 points but less goals while Immigration are third with 16 points.

Police Ladies who won 2-1 away to Holy Royals, are fourth on 15 points, Soccer Intellectuals are fifth with 11 points, Samaria are sixth, Hasaacas Ladies seventh with seven points and Holy Royals eighth with four points.

Soccer Intellectuals and Hasaacas Ladies will honour their game today.

In the northern zone, Ampem Darkoa returned to their ruthless ways as they hammered visiting Northern Ladies 7-0 in their game at the Ohene Ameyaw Park, and typically, striker Princella Okyere stole the show, scoring four out of the seven goals.

The win helped Ampem Darkoa stretch their lead to 24 points, followed in second place by Kumasi Sports Academy who played 1-1 with visiting Ashtown Ladies.

Fabulous Ladies remain third on 18 points despite their 3-0 away win against Real Upper Ladies, Prisons Ladies move to fourth place after their 1-0 win against Lepo Ladies who lie sixth, and Northern Ladies (sixth) and Real Upper Ladies (three) completing the table.

Police Ladies won 2-1 away against Holy Royals, with Prisons Ladies also winning 1-0 away against Lepo Ladies.

The match between Soccer Intellectuals and Hasaacas Ladies will be played tomorrow.
