GHANA’s senior female football national team, Black Queens, have arrived in Kumasi to begin their six-region tour of the country to sensitise Ghanaians about the upcoming 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as well as to solicit support for the competition to be staged in Ghana.
The Queens, travelling in an AFCON-branded STC bus, made brief stops at significant towns on the way such as Bunso Junction, Osino and Nkawkaw, to interact with people.
While in Kumasi, the team will play two matches against Kumasi Academy Ladies this afternoon and against a select Ashanti Regional side on Friday, before leaving for their next station, Techiman.
In Techiman, the Queens will line up against the National Women’s League champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies on Sunday and again play Prisons Ladies next Tuesday also at Techiman.
The team will continue to Tamale where they will play Northern Ladies and PearlPia Ladies before heading for the Western and Central regions to round up their programme.
As hosts, the Queens did not have the chance to play in the qualifiers and are thus using the tour to also help the team step up their preparations towards two international friendly matches lined up in October.
