May 9 Memorial at the Accra Sports Stadium

Ghana will commemorate the 16th anniversary of the May 9 Accra Sports Stadium disaster today with a wreath-laying ceremony which starts at 8.30am at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This will be preceded by a short memorial service at the RLG Hathiramani Sports Hall where the Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah is expected to be in attendance.

Black Stars Coach - Kwasi Appiah

The Black Stars Coach Kwasi Appiah has finally pen down a two-year contract to coach the Black Stars of Ghana.

Appiah who was scheduled to have started work on May 1, 2017 has been delayed due to contractual issues. The Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ministry for Youth and Sports and Kwasi Appiah met last week to sort out certain issues in the contract. After the meeting, Appiah was given the document for further study.

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi has been appointed the 1st Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Mr Nyantakyi's nomination for the post was validated by the CAF Executive Committee on Monday morning during its first meeting under the reign of recently elected CAF President Ahmad Ahmad in Manama, Bahrain.

Black Stars Coach Kwesi Appiah has urged local players to do away with money grabbing attitude and stay a bit longer in the Ghana premier league.

It’s been established that, Ghanaian footballers have developed a strong desire for seeking greener pastures just after one or two seasons of football in Ghana instead of playing a bit longer here.

Ahmad won the Caf presidential election in March, ending Issa Hayatou's 29-year reign.

The new Confederation of African Football (Caf) President, Ahmad, says he has refused to accept a salary from African football's governing body.

His election in March ended Cameroonian Issa Hayatou's 29-year reign. 

"I've refused a Caf salary for the simple reason it doesn't respect good administration," he told BBC Sport.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide, has announced a $5000 package each for the national U-17 team the Black Starlets if they win the ultimate trophy in Gabon.

Hadzide made this pronouncement at the Kotoka International Airport ahead of the team’s departure to Gabon on Friday.
