GFA President - Kwesi Nyantakyi

Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi has announced that he will not contest for re-election when his tenure expires in 2019.

Nyantakyi who was speaking on Joy News on Wednesday reechoed his intention not to vie for the enviable position at the FA again.

” I believe that a time will come when I have to put down my tools, take off my boots and probably pick up another boot”, he said.

Kwesi Nyantakyi was elected into office in December 2005 and has served three terms already. At the last election, he stood unopposed and he seems not to have competition when it comes to local FA elections.

A member of the newly constituted National Sports Authority Board and President of the Ghana Paralympics Committee, Bishop Cornelius Adjah Kofi says he is ready to offer his best and also support the Public Private Partnership (PPP) agenda of the newly constituted board.

According to the Ghana Paralympics Committee (GPC) Chairman, “We cannot develop without the collective efforts of both the Private stakeholders and the government. We need the two to tango in order to make the sporting disciplines attractive”.

Bishop Adjah in an interview with ATL FM assured the public of the board’s readiness to pay more attention to other sports apart from football.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko bus driver Nana Berchie has finally been discharged after spending seventy seven days at the hospital. The driver had been receiving treatment at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital following a fatal accident suffered by the Club on July 12, 2017.

Kotoko lost 0-1 to Inter-Allies at the El Wak Stadium before their fatal accident on the Nkwakwa road. Berchie was behind the wheel when the Porcupine Warriors got involved in an accident on the Nkwakwa road after a League match with Inter-Allies.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the police to drop the case against member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Frank Kwaku Appiah, alias Appiah Stadium.

Appiah Stadium was arrested on Tuesday by the Ashanti Regional Police to substantiate an allegation that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo smokes ‘wee’ [marijuana], which is a banned substance in Ghana.

He has since been given a police enquiry bail and has further apologised to the President over his comment.

A statement issued by the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, said the President has informed the police administration that he is not interested in the matter and has asked them to be accordingly advised.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has promised the Black stars B team US$100,000 for winning the WAFU Cup of Nations. The Black Stars B Team on Tuesday 26th September, 2017 presented the WAFU Cup of Nations trophy to His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo.

The players, technical team members headed by Coach Maxwell Konadu as well as Management members were at the flagstaff House to officially hand over the trophy to the first gentleman of the land. Also in attendance was the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi as well as the Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah.

Andre and Jordan Ayew were not included in Kwesi Appiah’s 26-man squad named on Tuesday for Ghana’s next 2018 World Cup qualifier against Uganda on October 7.
The brothers missed Ghana’s trip to Congo Brazzaville in the last round due to injury and ill health.
