Mohammed Polo

Ghana and Accra Hearts of Oak Legend, Mohammed Polo believes he is the only man who can quickly improve the fortunes of Accra Hearts of Oak.

The dribbling magician is alarmed by the club's downward spiral after suffering a 3-1 home defeat in Cape Coast to AshantiGold in the Ghana Premier League. Polo, who was sacked by the club in 2015 after just one season of being in charge, claims he can revive the Phobians.

Elmina Sharks coach Yaw Acheampong has complained about the performance of Referee Cecil Fletcher and his assistants, James Osafo and Jason Nunoo who officiated their game against Aduana Stars in the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Sharks were held by the Fire Boys to a goalless draw game at the Nduom Sports Stadium on Sunday 25th March, 2018 in Week 2 of the 2017/18 GPL.

Elmina Sharks were lavished in the last third of their opponent in spite of seeing lots of the balls in the game. But the coach Yaw Acheampong blamed the loss on the officiating officials who handled the match.

WAFA Academy stunned their hosts, Liberty Professionals with 3:0 drubbing on the second day of Week 2 of the Ghana Premier League.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Bechem United also won to bring their season back on track, while defending champions Aduana Stars, Elmina Sharks, Karela and Eleven Wonders all dropped valuable points.

Wahab 'Seunzy' Oluwaseun put up a spectacular performance to completely dominate and outpoint Bright Ayala last Saturday night in Accra. The judges had no choice than to award him a unanimous decision, 119-111, 120-109, 119-111 to crown him the new WBA Pan-African super featherweight champion.

The Nigerian who began his pro career in Ghana, is trained by a Ghanaian and has had all 16 career fights thus far in Accra, was in complete control throughout the 12 rounds as he rendered Ayala's power and game plan redundant.

Wahab was very crafty, making sure Ayala who kept chasing him around the ring, never got close to landing any power punches whilst often finding the space to land lots of telling blows as well as winning any exchange of punches whenever he stood up to the chasing Ayala.

Accra Hearts of Oak captain, Fatau Mohammed Abdul says he felt bad when they lost their home match to Ashantigold.

“I feel bad because football when you play home you have to win”, he said.

According to him, it is not easy to play away and get points so if a team is playing at their own back yard they should try as much as possible to get all the 3 points.

After last week’s opening round of matches in the 2018 Ghana Premier League season, the winners and losers have taken stock of their team’s strengths, and are setting new targets.

Elmina Sharks vs Aduana Stars – Ndoum Stadium, Elmina

League champions Aduana Stars will begin the defence of their title away at Elmina Sharks. The Ogya boys are kicking off their league season a week late, following their involvement in the CAF Champions League last weekend. That journey ended miserably as they were bundled out following a 4-0 thrashing by Algerian side ES Setif, and a 4-1 loss on aggregate.
