Cape Coast South NPP Holds Elections After Weeks Of Suspension

The Cape Coast South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has finally had its election after it was suspended for several weeks due to a court injunction.

Aggrieved persons who challenged the qualification of Alex Hagan, one of the candidates for the chairmanship position agreed to settle the matter out of court.

The party managed to withdraw the case from court on Friday 23rd March, paving way for the elections on Sunday 25th March.

There were three contestants for the chairmanship position. The beleaguered candidate whose qualification was contested in court, Alex Hagan polled 214 votes. He was however beaten by Mr. William Abban Ghansah who polled 236 votes. The other candidate, Emmanuel Dosseh polled 47.

The completion of Cape Coast South brings to 21 out of 23 constituencies which have successfully held their elections.

Two other constituencies still have issues in court. They are Ajumako Enyan Essiam and Ewutu Senya West.
