A huge fire has engulfed a tower block in Latimer Road, west London, with eyewitnesses claiming people are trapped in their homes.

The fire at Grenfell Tower on the Lancaster West Estate was reported at 01:16 BST and about 200 firefighters are tackling the blaze.

The Met Police said people were being treated for "a range of injuries".

US President Donald Trump's personal lawyer has rejected allegations made by James Comey, the former FBI director, before the US Senate.

Marc Kasowitz said Mr Trump never sought to impede the investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

He suggested that leaks by Mr Comey should themselves be investigated.

Polling stations have opened for people to cast their vote in the UK general election. Polls opened at 07:00 BST at more than 40,000 polling stations across the country, with counting starting once voting ends at 22:00 BST.

A total of 650 Westminster MPs will be elected, with about 46.9 million people registered to vote. That is up from the last general election, in 2015, when there were 46.4 million registered voters.

Police investigating Saturday night's terror attack in London say they know the identity of the three attackers who killed seven people and injured 48.

The Met Police said their names would be released "as soon as operationally possible" as officers work to establish if they were part of a wider network.

They were shot by police after driving into pedestrians on London Bridge and stabbing people in Borough Market.
