Police in the Cape Coast Metropolis since January, 2018 have recorded one hundred and ninety four (194) criminal offences.
The number includes 3 murder cases, 7 robberies, 179 stealing offences and five unlawful entries.
This was disclosed by the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Mr. Ernest Arthur at the 2nd ordinary meeting of the 3rd session of the 7th Assembly held on Wednesday.

The meeting which focused on development issues within the metropolis also highlighted the achievements of the MCE within his first year in office.
Mr. Ernest Arthur said security remains an important aspect of his administration and currently, the metropolis has been relatively peaceful with regular swoops at crime prone areas by the police.

He noted that through these swoops, the police have apprehended a number of suspected criminals who are assisting the police in investigations into the crimes committed.
While acknowledging that the metropolis experienced some criminal activities, he said police night patrols and snap checks have also significantly improved the overall safety and peace enjoyed by residents of Cape Coast.
Mr Arthur also indicated that the Police operations Unit and the MTTD also through their operations seized large numbers of motor bikes and the riders who were charged with varied offences were arraigned before court. Other motor bikes were also referred to the DVLA for the necessary documentation before they were released to their respective owners.
