The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, the Ghana Fisheries Commission and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has organized a durbar to commemorate this year’s World Day against Child Labour.

The durbar which was held in Cape Coast on Tuesday on the theme, “Resist Child Labour! Improve the Safety and Health of workers towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 8”, provided a platform to encourage child protection by giving children equal opportunities to fulfil their potentials.

In line with her vision to equip teenage mothers with the requisite skills to make them self-sufficient, the 2015 winner of Ghana’s Most Beautiful Pageant, Vera Oheneba Safoah popularly known as Esi, who represented the Central Region at the pageant, has presented hair care equipment to ten young women at Abura in Cape Coast.

While Nigeria's abortion laws are some of the most restrictive in the world, the country ranks top among countries its citizens are in search of abortion pills, a new survey has revealed.

Nigeria and Ghana are the two countries with the highest search interest in Misoprostol, an abortion pill, the BBC reports.

According to the BBC, data from countries who search for abortion pills the most was sourced from Google.

A road crash involving two buses at Asuboi, a suburb of Suhum, on Wednesday morning, has claimed 10 lives.

The crash occurred on the main Accra Kumasi Highway.


Personnel of the National Ambulance service indicated to Citi News that there were 32 survivors from the crash.

Some of the survivors are said to be in critical condition.


Doctors at the Suhum Government Hospital are making arrangements to refer some of the injured to the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

This incident adds to the growing number of accidents in the year 2018.

The National Road Safety Commission earlier revealed that over 300 people lost their lives in road accidents in the first two months of 2018.

The Commission also stated that over 2,000 road crashes were recorded in first two months, representing a significant rise from the same period in 2017.

The High Court has placed an interim injunction on the activities of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The order of the court, therefore bars the GFA and its officials from carrying out all officials duties at least for ten days.

This includes the organization of football matches, the selling of the association’s assets, the appointment and election of officials and other official duties.

Two hundred (200) out of an initial enrollment of one thousand students on the Cape Coast Technical and Vocational training Programme have graduated.

The training is the initiative of the honourable Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North and deputy minister in charge of Technical and Vocational Education, Mrs. Barbara Asher Ayisi. The training focuses on giving employable skills to participants to reduce the rate of unemployment within the metropolis.

Each of the graduating students was presented with a certificate and startup equipment.

Nine people were killed on Saturday in a gory motor accident at Dominase along the Elmina Takoradi Highway.

According to the Elmina District Police, the accident occurred as a result of a reckless overtaking by the driver of a Toyota Corolla Saloon car.
