The Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for enhanced trade and investment between Ghana and the European Union in order to reflect the collective resolve towards helping to attain the vision of a Ghana Beyond Aid. Vice President Bawumia made the call when he took part in the 2018 edition of the Ghana-EU Political Dialogue in Accra on Thursday 6th December, 2018 in Accra.
Players in Ghana’s fisheries sector are calling for the implementation of transparency and accountability standards to help improve the sector. According to them, this will help address the mirage of challenges faced by the sector in the country as the fish stocks in the country’s waters keep going down every day.
The Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, has advised the public against the misuse and abuse of medications, since it could be harmful to their health. He said using medicines when they were not needed, over-using them or limiting their use resulted in delayed care, disease progression, increased mortality and antimicrobial resistance.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated the Sunda Ghana Diaper Limited, the largest diaper-making factory in sub-Saharan Africa. The company, located at Bortianor in the Ga West municipality in the Greater Accra Region, is operating under the government’s 1-District 1-Factory (1D1F) initiative.
The Police Administration has rolled out a programme to contain crime and ensure safety on the roads as Christmas inches closer. Across the country, 14,000 policemen have been deployed to commercial centres, including markets, and other areas known to be prone to crime. Officers of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) have also been deployed to enforce road safety regulations on the roads.
