The superintendent Minister of the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Cape Coast, Very Rev. Richardson Aboagye Andam has bemoaned the actions of prophets who make public, prophesies on individuals, especially celebrities and people of good standing in society.

His comments come in the wake of several prophets, who for perceived personal aggrandizement are laying claim to prophesying the demise of the promising afro pop/ dancehall songstress, Ebony Reigns born Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng who met her untimely death last Thursday through a road crash.

The latest to wade into the display of prophetic prowess is a Kumasi based Prophet of the Christ Vision Prayer Ministry, Prophet E. K. Mensah who is predicting dancehall King, Shatta Wale’s death by July this year if he does not repent.

The prophecy which was received in bad taste by the musician caused him to vent on social media threatening to burn churches of such prophets in the country to ashes if he is still alive by December. With these developments, Very Rev. Andam believes, men of God who receive such revelations should make the effort to personally contact the individuals involved and help them out.

In an interaction with ATL FM NEWS, he said it is a shortcoming on the part of these prophets who put such revelations within the public domain without contacting the individuals involved.

“…because it concerns Shatta Wale, you should call him, sit him down and tell him, this is what I have seen. Encourage him to pray together with you and ask God for his protection. It is not a matter for the public.

Even if Shatta Wale is not a Christian, he can call his Christian friends and tell them, this is what this prophet has seen about me so remember me in your prayers. But it is normally not done this way, they always just come to the public and make such declarations and sometimes, the people involved don’t even hear about it themselves, unless someone goes to tell them”, he said.

Speaking on the boggling question of why some prophecies that spell doom are not averted, Very Rev. Andam said “God reveals to redeem, so when he reveals something to his prophets, he also gives them the right and power to pray towards it so that something can be done about it."

"But, most of the time when the prophecy comes, it’s like the person involved does things which should not be done as a Christian so the prophets prayer will not even be effective. This is because, those they are praying for do not even know Christ and do not even pray, as it where, to support the prayer of the prophet. We all need to accept Christ as our lord and personal saviour so that we can be protected”.
