The Academic Board of the University of Cape Coast [UCC] has approved a proposal re-designating and modifying the rank of research assistants in the university.
The re-designation will mean that there will be no permanent appointment of research assistants. Persons already appointed as research assistants with first degrees will be re-designated to Teaching Assistants while those with Masters Degrees will be re designated to Teaching Associates.
In an exclusive interview with ATL FM NEWS, the Director of the Directorate of Human Resource of the University of Cape Coast Rev. Isaac Baafi Sarbeng said, the modification in ranks adopted by the Academic Board is to ensure that the purpose for which these positions were established are not defeated.

Rev Sarbeng stated that the new designations will not affect the salaries of those already on the affected ranks.
According to Rev. Sarbeng, the exercise will enhance the intellectual capacity of the University, urging individuals affected to work towards gaining high academic qualifications.
