GRASAG Wins UCC Volleyball Competition

Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG)- University of Cape Coast [ UCC ] has won the 2017/2018 UCC volleyball competition for both men and women editions.

The 2017/2018 UCC volleyball competition was participated by GRASAG , Kwame Nkrumah hall, Valco hall, Casely Hayford hall, Atlantic hall, Ogua hall, Adehye hall and SRC hostel with GRASAG emerging as Champions.

GRASAG men’s team beat Kwame Nkrumah hall 2-1 in an enthralling semi-final to book their place in the final where they won comfortable with a two straight sets wins over Valco hall. Their female counterparts also exhibited the same winning streak by beating Adeshye to a 2-1 score in the semi-final before winning the women’s edition with a two straight win over Ogua hall.

Speaking to ATL sports, captain for GRASAG men’s team, Joseph Guba expressed his excitement after the victory. He said they were going to plan ahead for next year’s competition.

“To be a champion is not easy. You need to always keep your standard and winning this competition, a lot will be expected of us next year. We are really praying things go well for us and from now we are going to continue to train hard and plan for next year and with our three D’s that’s our determination, desire and dedication we will win the trophy again”, he said.

Valco team captain, Augustine Boahen conceded that the final result was fair and GRASAG deserved the win. He further stated that this year’s volleyball competition was very competitive as compared to all the four competitions he has participated in.

“Since I started playing volleyball from level 100, this year’s competition is the most competitive and I think UCC volleyball team will be strong for the GUSA games,” Augustine retorted.

After the match, some fans expressed their satisfaction for the competition’s showpiece this year.
