UCC Faculty Of Law To Admit SHS Graduates

The founding Dean of the Faculty of Law of University of Cape Coast, Professor Philip Ebo Bondzie Simpson says for Ghana to thrive on the path of development, there is the need to ensure justice for all citizens irrespective of one’s ethnic background or social status.

He says it is important to allow the supremacy of the law take charge in all the endeavors of citizens. Failure to adhere to this he explains can have dire consequences on the development of the nation.

The founding Dean of the Faculty of Law of University of Cape Coast, Professor Philip Ebo Bondzie Simpson

Professor Bondzie Simpson said this in an address delivered at the 2017 Jurist Confab of the faculty of law of the university which was on the theme, 'LAW GOVERNANCE AND DEVELOPMENT'.

The Founding Dean said the law, governance and development are interwoven thus the need to strengthen collaboration within the three-core elements of nation building to promote peace and tranquility.

Professor Bondzie Simpson further hinted that, plans were far advanced for the faculty to admit fresh Senior High School graduates into the LLB programme. This he said will open up the faculty to the public for more access to legal education.

He said as part of measures taken by the faculty to broaden its scope of endeavor, a master of law programme LLM has been earmarked to take off in the 2018/2019 academic year. A master of criminal justice to be run on sandwich basis is also scheduled to take off in the 2018/2019 academic year.

These new developments according to the founding dean are aimed at achieving the core mandate of the faculty of providing high quality legal education in the country and beyond.
