A lecturer at the Department of Computer Science of University of Cape Coast, Wellborn Marful says it is necessary that a well-structured database system for psychiatric health facilities in the country is created to ensure proper records keeping.

According to him, a centralized computerized database will not only ward off the use of papers for record keeping but will also ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the work place.

In addressing this growing concern, Mr. Marful has designed a module which, if adopted, will be useful to psychiatric hospitals in the country.

Mr. Wellborn Marfo made this known on Wedspeaking exclusively to ATL FM NEWS after he delivered a presentation at a seminar organised by the School of Physical Sciences on the topic, Modelling An Integrated Psychiatric Hospital Information System Solution For Ghana.

Mr Wellborn explained that his proposal has been made available to state officials in the health sector and University of Cape Coast for consideration and support.

He said he hopes the proposal is accepted and utilized to enhance the work of psychiatric hospitals.
