The Central Regional Director of Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, formerly, Town and Country Planning, Martey Korli, has indicated that the development of structures along the beaches within the Cape Coast metropolis is illegal.

According to him, a consensus reached at a stakeholder meeting indicated that such developments were illegal and needed to be stopped to ensure the beach front is protected.

Mr. Korli said the Assembly which is the planning authority will ensure that developments within the metropolis are consistent with planning regulations.

Mr. Korli, speaking during a tour of the beach at Ola to assess the situation on the ground said the vegetative cover at the beaches were being destroyed by these developments exposing surrounding communities to danger.

The Director further said the Metro Assembly would destroy all illegal structures operating at the beaches in the interest of the public.
