The University of Cape Coast students’ Parliament has organized a debate for SRC aspirants contesting in the 2018/2019 presidential elections. The debate, the third of its kind, is an initiative of the UCC House of Parliament. It is aimed at deepening democracy and fostering accountability at the students’ front.

Speaker of the UCC House of Parliament, the Rt. Honorable Awotunde Awosika, speaking to ATL FM NEWS said the debate was an occasion to allow electorates make the right choice in the spirit of democracy.

The Honourable Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Gifty Twum Ampofo has urged affiliates of Valco Hall, University of Cape Coast to aspire to take up leadership positions to contribute to the development of the hall, the university and the country at large.

She said students patronizing counselling services provided by the university will help develop and prepare them for key positions in the future.

Madam Gifty Twum, speaking last Saturday at a durbar dubbed 'Sankofa Durbar' to climax the 26th year hall week anniversary of VALCO hall advised the students to take advantage of the opportunities the university presents and develop themselves holistically.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Communications, Kenneth Ashigbey, has described the ban by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on the use of mobile phones in senior high schools as wrong. Thus, calling on the GES and other educational stakeholders to take a second look at the issue.

Ghana’s Education Service (GES) banned the use of mobile phones in basic and secondary schools to enable students concentrate more on their studies.

An Educationist and Head of the Finance Department of the University of Cape Coast, Professor John Gatsi, has expressed concern over the continuous abysmal performance of pupils in public schools in the Basic Education Certificate Examination.

Prof Gatsi observed that public basic school pupils perform poorly compared to their counterparts in the private schools during the standard assessment examinations.

Professor Gatsi was speaking at the 9th John Gatsi Educational Foundation Excellence Awards ceremony at Dzodze in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.
