Kuntu of Akan drama fame commits suicide

A member of the Adehye Drama Troupe based in Cape Coast, Daniel Yeboah known in entertainment circles as “Kuntu” has committed suicide.
The drama Troupe was known for their great acts on Akan Drama on Ghana Television (GTV) in the 90s.

Kuntu, aged sixty-three (63), committed the act in his kitchen at his private home located at Brafoyaw within the Abura Asebu Kwamankese district of the central region.
Mr. Yeboah who was a retiree of the University Health Services of University of Cape Coast was found hanging from the ceiling of his kitchen in the early hours of Thursday by his twelve year old grandson.
The widow, Madam Grace Ama Yamoah Yeboah told ATL FM News she spent Wednesday evening with her husband watching the semi-final World Cup match between England and Croatia. She said she was under the weather so laid in bed indicating that on a number of occasions, Kuntu exited the room they shared and returned stealing glances at her.

The unsuspecting widow said she fell asleep and woke up in the morning without her husband in the room. A few minutes later, her grandson who had been asked to fetch something from the kitchen came screaming that his grandpa was hanging in the kitchen.

The Police were informed and the body was conveyed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital where an autopsy will be performed.
One of the members of the Adehye Drama Troupe, Mr. Justice Sefa who had the screen name, “Bediako” also told ATL FM the news came to him with great shock. He noted that he recently as last Saturday spoke with the late Daniel Yeboah and there was no indication of any challenge he faced.

Family members say there was no communication from the deceased to suggest he had a problem to warrant such a drastic move.
Egya Kuntu is survived by a wife, a son and four daughters.
