The 2018 edition of Sarkodie’s Rapperholic concert was a mixed bag of fun and ‘nightmare’ for the many who filled the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) Tuesday night. But for the impressive performances on the night, the major talking points of the concert would have been the chocked auditorium and the unprecedented heat at the venue.

As if there were no air conditioners, revellers throughout the concert could be seen frantically trying their best to fan themselves to get some air.

Surprisingly, these huge challenges did not mar the beauty of the concert.

Like the past editions, the Rapperholic has seen the lead act Sarkodie mount the stage, do what he does best while some acts join him intermittently to thrill patrons.

This year was no different. Almost everyone who matters currently in music in Ghana mounted the stage to perform.

Some of the country’s biggest music acts including Kuami Eugene, Kidi, Joey B, Pappy Kojo, Efya, Criss Waddle, Captain Planet, Kwesi Arthur, Mr Eazi, and King Promise all performed at this year’s edition.

Old folks like Chicago, Akatakyie, 5Five, Stay Jay, Nana Boroo, Tinny, Bright of Buk Bak also thrilled patrons to some classic throwback songs.

For such a concert, the last person people would expect to be part of the performers is highlife legend, Amakye Dede. His live band performance was simply too classic. He got everyone at the venue on their feet throughout his performance.

Not even the intense heat could prevent internationally acclaimed movie star Idris Elba, Togolese footballer Emmanuel Adebayor, Moesha Boduong, Sandra Ankobiah and others from having a good night.

For hours, Sarkodie dished out back to back hit songs from his impressive catalogue of songs.

Patrons danced and sang along to smash hits like ‘Original’, ‘Baby’, ‘Adonai’, ‘Biibi Ba’, ‘Hope’, ‘RNS’, ‘Megye Wo Girl’, ‘Gboza’, ‘Life’, and the list goes on and on. He capped his performance with ‘Can’t Let You Go’ featuring King Promise.
