The Central Regional Police Command last Friday held a Flag Raising Ceremony to climax its Police week celebration.

The ceremony was in remembrance and celebration of the lives of departed service men who lost their lives in the line of duty.

There was a parade of officers drawn from the regional Police Command at the forecourt of the regional police headquarters and at 10:30am, a trumpet sounded as the nation’s flag and that of the police service were hoisted. This ritual was observed concurrently across the country.

Addressing the gathering, the Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Paul Manly Awini, called for a minute of silence in honour of two deceased service men, Lance corporal Alhassan Mumuni and lance Corporal Danso of the Central Regional Police Command.

DCOP Awini charged those in active service to hold in reverence their profession in order to give the death of their colleagues’ relevance.
