The chairman of the Central Region Premix Fuel Committee has hinted that a taskforce has been formed to arrest perpetrators engaging in illegal sales of premix fuel at various landing beaches in the region.
Mr Kobina Badu revealed this to ATL FM’s Egyanom Afarfo host, Egya Cosmos on Tuesday. The honourable Member of Parliament for Komenda –Edina –Eguafo-Abrem Municipality, Samuel Attah Mills is reported to have raised concern over the manner of premix fuel sales at the landing beaches. The MP said sales of the fuel are done on political party affiliations and in some situations non-fishermen and non-canoe owners are able to buy the premix and re-sell to vulnerable fishermen at exorbitant prices.
In response to this allegation, Mr. Kobina Badu urged fishermen with any grievances related to the sale of premix fuel to seek redress from their chief fishermen and also volunteer information about those engaging in the illegal practice.
Mr Badu also hinted that the committee is also in consultation with the Police service to address the purported difficulties fishermen go through at the hands of Police patrol teams on high ways when transporting their premix fuel from one community to another community.
