The Mfantesman Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Martha Acquah has been adjudged the Best Teacher for the Municipality at this year’s Best Teacher Awards held last Friday.

The event which was organized in collaboration with Saltpond local GNAT was in commemoration of this year’s World Teachers’ Day which was celebrated on the theme "The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher.”
The ceremony also honoured the first Country Manager and Founder of Tullow Oil Ghana Limited, Nana Kofi Otu Esson who singlehandedly donated prize items to be awarded to deserving teachers within the municipality.

In all, 41 teachers received awards in various areas for their work.
In her welcome address, the deputy director in charge of Human Resource and Management Development at GES, Saltpond, Mrs. Justina Appawu described teachers as the beacon of light who lay foundation for creating enlightened citizens for the nation and as such must be celebrated.
On her part, the Municipal Director of Education, Mfantseman, Mrs Martha Acquah, who also emerged the Best Teacher for the year reiterated the need for attention to be given to teachers as they play a major role in the developmental agenda of the country.
Mrs. Acquah has been a teacher for forty years. She received a certificate of honour and a refrigerator for her award.
