Thirty students of University of Cape Coast who are fellows of Youth Empowerment Synergy, YES-GHANA have embarked on a number of projects geared towards impacting the lives of people living in some selected communities in the Central Region.
The communities include Koforidua in the Efutu District, Brabedze, Asenadze and Efutu-Kokoado.
The projects by the students involved the distribution of solar lanterns, construction of footbridge, medical screening, provision of boreholes, construction of drainage facilities and community centre.
These fellows received rigorous training in leadership for social change and were taken through professional mentoring from selected members of faculty and industry players organized by YES-GHANA.
Last year, these students were awarded a grant of GH¢ 50, 000 to undertake their projects. The award grants formed part of the Youth Leadership for Social Change project implemented by YES-GHANA.
The Vice Dean of Students’ Affairs of UCC, Mr. Kofi Ntim appreciated the fellows for taking such great initiatives which have touched the lives of people in these beneficiary communities.
