Irate youth of Abura Dunkwa burn building occupied by foreign nationals for allegedly murdering opinion leader

Some angry youth of Abura Dunkwa are reported to have set ablaze a building in the town believed to be occupied by foreign nationals. The youth claim the act is in retaliation for the alleged murder of an opinion leader of the area by the foreigners.

The late opinion leader, Benjamin Acquah, a private security personnel who worked with the GCB Bank Limited was aged 56.

A resident who spoke to ATL FM News said the harrowing event happened on Sunday after the youth gathered information suggesting that the late opinion leader had been clubbed to death by some “Zamarama men” in the town.

According to a police report sighted by ATL FM News, the late Benjamin Acquah is alleged to have entered the building occupied by the foreign nationals who are mainly Malians  wielding a machete with his intent not clearly known at about 8:30pm on Saturday. The report says he was resisted by the occupants of the house and was later found lifeless lying in a supine position in the compound of the house. The Police say there were no visible marks on the body upon inspection.

The body was removed and deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

The irate youth on Sunday besieged the said house and set it ablaze.

The Central regional Police say investigations into the alleged murder have begun.
