The honourable Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast South, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, has formally announced his intention to join the flagbearer race of the National Democratic Congress.
In a letter to the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Ricketts-Hagan said he was officially confirming he will be “a candidate in the upcoming flagbearership race to elect a presidential candidate for the election of 2020”.
The Cape Coast South legislator, a former deputy finance minister, in December 2017 indicated his interest to become President on the ticket of the NDC to his colleague Minority Members of Parliament.
Mr. Ricketts-Hagan’s letter is in line with a directive by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah, that all aspirants would first have to inform the party of their intention to contest the slot before campaigning.
Campaigning for Presidential candidate aspirants is currently opened and congress is scheduled for December 7, 2018.
