To increase accountability and gain firsthand information on the developmental needs of people in Cape Coast, the honourable Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Ernest Arthur has paid a visit to two electoral areas in the Cape Coast south constituency.

The visits were made to Amanfor East and Amanfor West electoral areas. The communities include Gyagyamu, Savoy, Nkwantado, Enyitsiwdu, and Amanfor.

The MCE met with Assembly members and residents of these areas and they made known to him their issues of concern. These issues include unavailability of streets lights, sanitation and unavailability of toilet facilities in the communities, indiscriminate loading of passengers along the road by taxi drivers, unnecessary noisemaking especially by tricycle owners and the sudden spiraling rate of theft.

Responding to the issues, the honorable MCE disclosed that a police task force has been formed to combat the issue of thuggery in the town which has been making movement unsafe at night. He added the Assembly has purchased a land at Ankaful in the Cape Coast North Constituency which is being prepared for government’s “Planting for Food and Jobs” programme and advised the youth to take advantage of the opportunity to be employed.

Mr. Arthur entreated the people to join in the Assembly’s operation, “Wrap Your Waste Own a Dustbin” campaign to help solve the issue of poor sanitation in the metropolis.
