President of UTAG, Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah

The University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG) has reiterated its stance, calling on government to rescind a decision to remove all lecturers beyond the age of 65 on post retirement contract from government payroll.

Some 86 persons with disabilities in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem Municipality have been presented with items worth close to 150 thousand Ghana Cedis. The items which include wheel chairs, sewing machines, corn mill machines, stalls, hair dryers, deep freezers among others are in fulfilment with the persons with disability Act 2006 and Act 715 which enforce the protection of the interest of persons living with disabilities.

Per the 2008 Ghana health demographic survey, about 26,000 children under the age of 5 are estimated to die of diarrhea related diseases. An unacceptable situation which has caused government to partner international organizations and other local private entities like UNILEVER to focus attention on parents and children hand washing with soap.
